Global Talent Visa

Individuals who exemplify extraordinary talent or immense potential in the fields of science, engineering, humanities, medicine, digital technology, or arts and culture are eligible to apply for the Global Talent Visa. This visa option is accessible for individuals who are 18 years old or older.

Applications for the Global Talent Visa are open for individuals who demonstrate exceptional talent or great promise in the fields of science, engineering, humanities, medicine, digital technology, or the arts and culture. Those who are eighteen years of age or older may apply for this type of visa.

In February 2020, the Tier 1 Exceptional Talent visa was replaced by the Global Talent Visa, in an effort to attract people with exceptional talent to live and work in the UK.

How long can I stay?

You can live and work in the UK for up to 5 years at a time. There is no limit on how long you can stay in total, however, you must renew your visa before it expires or apply for settlement, if you are eligible to do so. Applicants endorsed under the exceptional talent criteria can apply for settlement after 3 years, and applicants endorsed under the exceptional promise criteria can apply for settlement after 5 years.

How do I apply?

You must apply online on the www.gov.uk website.

How much does it cost?

The fee for the application is broken down into two stages:

It costs £623 to apply.

If you’re applying based on an endorsement, you’ll pay the £623 in two parts:

  • £456 when you apply for the endorsement
  • £167 when you apply for the visa itself

If you’re applying based on an eligible award, you’ll pay the full £623 when you apply for the visa.

If you’re including your partner or children in your application, they’ll each need to pay £623.

All applicants will need to pay the immigration health surcharge, which is currently set at £624 per annum for adults aged 18 and over, and £470 per annum for applicants 17 and under.
